Hebrews 11:1 King James Version
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
How many times have you prayed about something, said Amen, only to come back and pray about the same thing over and over again? Having faith in God means trusting Him. And trusting Him while you rest in Him are crucial to taking care of yourself. Remember what Matthew 6:27 says: Can any of you add one moment to his life span by worrying?
Worrying does nothing for your health. Resting does so much.
Rest is something we do through our faith because it requires surrendering control, acknowledging our own human limitations, and trusting in God’s provision for us rather than depending solely on ourselves. By choosing to rest, we are putting our faith into action, saying that we trust God to sustain us and meet all of our needs.
Christian burnout is a real thing. And it is such an oxymoron. I want to challenge you today to recognize your dependence on God. Allow God to remove the weights that hold you down and take a step towards relying on His divine strength. Through this you will deepen your connection with God and lessen the worries of your life. Putting your faith into action by resting in God is a wonderful way to worship Him. It is also a beautiful way to take care of yourself.
Pray this with me:
Dear Lord, help me to surrender all of my worries to you. Remind me that worrying is bad for my health and that it is good for me to rest in you. I acknowledge that you are the source of all the good things in my life. I trust that you love me and that you want what is best for me and that you are going to work all things together for my good. Thank you for loving me and never giving up on me. In Jesus Name, Amen.
