Day 27 – Living a Slower Life With God

“Be still, and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10

It’s easy to miss God’s still sweet voice when we are busy and rushing from one thing to the other without stopping to catch our breath. When our days are packed and our minds are noisy, we often miss the quiet invitations of God’s presence. Being still isn’t about doing nothing—it’s about doing fewer things with deeper attention to God.

Jesus modeled a slower rhythm. He stepped away to pray, walked with people instead of rushing past them, and trusted the Father’s timing. Remember Lazarus? Jesus took 4 days to arrive at the tomb after he died and still raised him from the dead. He trusted God’s timing. Even around the peaceful shores of the Sea of Galilee, He chose stillness over speed.

Today, God may be inviting you to release hurry—not by changing your whole life overnight, but by creating small spaces of stillness. A quiet morning prayer. A pause before your next task. A moment to breathe and remember that He is near.

Where have you been rushing past God’s presence lately?

Take a moment and journal the busy areas of your life. Notice the areas that you need to invite God in. Take a deep breath and rest.

Living a slower life with God isn’t about doing less for the sake of laziness—it’s about doing what matters most with intention and peace. Christian Self-Care teaches us to clear the noise in our minds so we can better hear His voice.

Here are a few simple things you can incorporate into your Self-Care routine:

Choose presence over pressure

Create space for prayer and reflection

Simplify commitments to make room for God

Let go of hurry as a lifestyle

Pray with me:

Dear Lord, help me to slow down. Teach me to live at a pace that lines up with Your Will for my life. Help me to notice you in the quiet places. Help me to trust you with my time. I give it all to you Lord. In Jesus Name, Amen.
