Day 16 – Simple Daily Self-Care Routines for Christians

In a world of so much uncertainty one thing is for sure. God is real, His Word is truth and in it He says we need to love ourselves. I have decided as I pray for the things that are beyond my control I will control the things I can… And one of those things is how I treat myself every single day. Are you ready to pamper yourself?

I have put together 5 fun and easy things you can do for yourself every day as part of your self-care routine. Keeping God at the center is always the focus but taking care of our bodies is essential. And it doesn’t have to be expensive or boring. It is intended to make us feel good, lift our spirits and teach us that prioritizing ourselves is biblical.

1. Start and end your day with prayer. Take time to thank God, give him your worries and breathe in His presence. This sets the tone for your day and your sleep. Simple practice with HUGE benefits.

2. Read some scripture or a devotional. Here is the devotional I am currently reading and I love it. Power Thoughts Creating consistency in God’s Word adds value to your day. When tough things come up, so will these scriptures, and they will help you navigate through troubled waters. Remember what you take in… comes out.

3. Remember to move your body. Add some dancing into your morning routine while getting ready. Put on your favorite praise music and dance your way to the shower, dance while drying off. Maybe you have time to go for a walk. Move your arms by waving to your neighbors, smile and be in the moment. Any extra tiny movements you can incorporate into your day will reap benefits. Stretch while putting on this good smelly lotion I recommend. Jergens Or park as far away in a parking lot as you can so you can get in some extra steps. Remember this is the body God gave you, take care of it.

4. Practice gratitude today. Being thankful and positive will benefit you more than being negative ever will. Smack your hand every time you catch yourself complaining. Take time to thank God for everything you can and you will be amazed at how your attitude will change and you will automatically feel better.

5. Get yourself a little treat today. Reward yourself for something you are proud of… like an accomplishment, something you overcame… like biting your tongue…lol - Don’t break the bank… but treat yourself to your favorite coffee from your favorite coffee shop, maybe a face mask for your at home routine or some new shiny lip gloss. I just ordered this and I can’t wait to try it. Clinique Lip Tint

Remember Jesus dearly loved others. He continuously poured into people but when He needed to withdraw and pray - He did. He knew it was important to take care of His mind and His body. So if your Savior needed to do this then don’t you think you need to also? It’s okay to take a time out, it’s okay to have fun and it’s okay to rest. It is also okay to say “no” when you feel depleted. Self-Care isn’t selfish it’s about taking care of yourself and receiving God’s love daily so you aren’t running on empty.

Pray with me:

Dear Lord, thank you for a new week. Thank you for showing me in Your Word how important it is to take care of myself. Thank you Jesus for setting the example. Help me Lord, to put you first every day and to be consistent in my new self-care routine. In Jesus Name, Amen.
