Today marks 2 weeks of Self-Care devotions the biblical way. Have you been following along for the last 2 weeks? If so, what has been your take away? Have you changed your daily routine to put God first? Have you taken time to rest in His presence and walk in the peace He provides? Have you been journaling? I hope so!
If this is the first devotion you’ve read, welcome. There are 13 previous posts about Self-Care God’s way that you are invited to explore. I pray they are a blessing to you.
In the traditional world Saturday is a day off. For those like me that don’t get Saturday’s off, it’s just another weekday…LOL However, it marks the end of the week and that is a great time to take a minute to reset regardless if you are getting ready for work, about to go to the grocery store or have no plans of getting out of your pajamas today. Let’s take a look at what we learned about self care last week.
Day 8 – We learned about taking care of our mental health as part of our self-care routine.
Day 9 – We read scriptures to help calm the anxiety in our lives and to walk in peace.
Day 10 – We prayed through stress and overwhelm.
Day 11 – We learned how important it is to renew our mind in Christ.
Day 12 – We talked about how we can have God’s Peace in the middle of a busy life.
Day 13 – We realized God’s strength is made perfect in our imperfections.
Wow - if we really absorbed all of that we should be feeling pretty darn good about now…haha But maybe, just maybe, it hasn’t sunk in just yet. Maybe you are still just so busy you are having a hard time focusing. Today is the day to reset. If you are reading this, then you have a couple of minutes. Pause - close your eyes (well keep them open for a sec) take a deep breath in your nose and out your mouth. Nice and slow. Focus on God, think about how much He loves you, think about how strong He is and how He desires to protect you, care for you, provide for you. Take a moment and ask Him to take all your worries away and to help you rest in His presence. Ask Him to show you where there is room in your schedule to spend time with Him everyday. Okay, now close your eyes...haha
How do you feel? I hope those couple of minutes helped you to reset.
Pray with me:
Dear Lord, thank you for reminding me how important it is to slow down and rest in you. I pray that you would help my mind to settle and my body to relax so that I may enjoy just being in your presence without feeling the need to be doing something. As I prepare to start a new week, help me to put you first. Help me to apply the things I have learned about taking care of myself to my daily routine. Help me to walk in Your ways and to remember to put you first in everything I do. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.
Now take a minute and write a prayer down in your journal. Start off with thanking God for everything He has done and then make your requests known to Him. Then - grab these eye masks from Amazon. I like to put them on when I’m doing household chores. It makes the 20 minutes go by super fast.
Be blessed! I’ll see you next week - Our theme will be Physical & Practical Self-Care God’s Way - This will be fun! We get to explore some cool products - After all… God did instruct us to take care of His temple (our bodies).
