Day 10 - Praying Through Stress and Overwhelm

Psalm 23 is one of the most famous scriptures in the bible. Even people who do not consider themselves Christians know this verse. Why? Because it is the most recited prayer of all time. It reveals to us so many things that we need to know about God’s character and His love for us. When life stresses you out, when you feel like you just can’t push through, when you feel like there is no way… repeat this verse to yourself and remember, God always makes a way… even when there seems to be no way.

Psalm 23

23 The Lord is my shepherd; (This is your relationship with Him, the Shepherd always takes care of his sheep.)

I shall not want. (This is Him meeting your needs.)

2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; (This is resting in Him.)

He leads me beside the still waters. (This is Him refreshing our souls.)

3 He restores my soul; (This is healing.)

He leads me in the paths of righteousness (This is Him guiding us.)

For His name’s sake. (This is purpose.)

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, (This is life’s tests, which come to make us stronger and smarter.)

I will fear no evil; (This is His protection.)

For You are with me; (This is Him being faithful to us.)

Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. (This is discipline.)

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; (This is divine favor.)

You anoint my head with oil; (This is consecration.)

My cup runs over. (This is abundance.)

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

All the days of my life; (This is blessing.)

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord (This is security.)

Forever. ( This is eternity.)

Whatever is overwhelming you or stressing you out, I promise, it is not too big for God to handle. Keep this verse close to your heart and remember how much you are loved.

Pray this with me:

Dear Lord,

Thank you for the promises in your word. Thank you for reminding me that nothing is too great for you to handle. I give you my worries, my stressors, my overwhelming feelings and my negative thoughts. I pray you replace them with your guidance, your rest, your provisions and your feelings of love and joy. Help me to walk in your ways today and to be a light for others. In Jesus Name, Amen.
