The Plank and the Stick

Luke 6:42 (NIV) 42 How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. Matthew 7:3-5 (NIV) 3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. I love these two scriptures. No, I really do. For me these scriptures bring accountability. I have heard it preached that these scriptures are saying it is okay to correct your brother or sister in Christ as long as you’ve lined yourself up with God first; and even though this is not completely false,

Surrender, Repentance, Obedience and Devotion

I was reading some of my previous blogs this morning and I am telling you I blessed myself. LOL! We are not to be confused with churches that preach just to tickle your ears or give you the goose bump feel goods but not the sharp sword truth; we are a God fearing, Holy Spirit seeking, truth loving people of God.   Recently, after a Spirit lead service reminding me to seek God deeper, a memory flooded my mind. I was transported back in time (in my mind) to several years ago when we were having what we call a “Soaking Service” at our church. This is when we come together at a time other than Sunday morning or Wednesday night and we play worship music and seek God and soak up the fullness of His presence in one accord as one body of Christ. In my mind I was literally back there and the vision was so clear I knew God was trying to remind me of something. I saw the faces of those that were there. I heard the soft music playing in the background. The fresh laid carpet
